Golden Apple Scholar

We are thrilled to announce that one of our outstanding seniors, Makaila Gonzalez, has been chosen as an Illinois Golden Apple Scholar! This prestigious recognition is awarded to future educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication and potential in the field of teaching! While over 3,000 Illinois students applied, only a little over 400 students in the state were chosen and Makaila is one of them!

Makaila was selected for this honor that comes with a scholarship of $23,000 spread out throughout her college years and assistance in securing an educator’s position after graduation in an area of need.

Throughout this school year, Makaila has quietly gone through an extensive process of applying for the program and interviewing with the program’s leaders. Due to her unwavering commitment to education and her exemplary academic performance, Makaila sailed through both rounds of the scholarship committee’s selection process!

Additionally, Makaila has consistently volunteered in tutoring programs, participated in education-related clubs, and maintained a strong academic record. Her passion for teaching and her dedication to making a difference in the lives of students has already set her apart in our Ohio school family!

Please join us in congratulating Makaila on this remarkable achievement! We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in the world of education soon!
